This week in science #9
This week in science we had to dissect an animal and I had a perch, but I haven't dissected because I didn't feel well doing that. But I saw the inside parts of the perch. And my partner Ni took out the inside parts with Charles. We had to find out if it was a felmale or male. Mine was a male perch. Then I labled the pictures we took.
What I learned in science was where of the body of the animal we had to cut it up. I learned how to tell what kind of gender it is. Something i'm not sure about is how the inside parts are so confusing. I wonder why they smelled like that. I finally understand how to dissect.

This week in science #8

Me and my partner, Angel and Ni, dissected a crayfish and cricket. I labeled all four pictures the antennaon both dorsal view and Ventral and side view. Some features that crayfish and a cricket have are antennle, eye, rostrum, cheliped , middle leg, cercus, lambrum, ocellus. I searched a crayfish environment they live in any kind of water except for salt water. And crickets live along roads, warm places, damp place. Some of the adaptions of a crayfish is that they have very large claws like a lobster and can swim backwards very quickly. And a crickets adaption is that they adapt by the surroundings of them. The antenna is proximal to the cricket and crayfish face. The middle leg of a cricket is posterior to the stomach.
I noticed that when you dissect a cricket you could see the guts but on a crayfish you really can't. I'm still unsure about why you couldn't open the crayfish with the knife? I learned how to dissect a Worm and I saw what it has inside of it mostly poop. I never knew that a worn can be really big i think it was like 6-7 inches long. Dissecting an animal is kind of gross.

Kingdom:Animalia (Animals)
Phlymu:Chordata (Vertebrates)
Class :Actinopterygii (Fish).
Order:Cypriniformes ( Minnows / Suckers)
Family:Cyprinidae(Minnows )
Genus:Notropis(second largest genus of freshwater fish on the continent.)
Species:N.atherinoides(Emerald Shiner)
Emerald Shiner Live in the Gulf of Mexico.Largely of zooplankton and small aquatic insects; but some algae and dead insects. They grow 2-4 inches. The back
is silvery with an emerald green or steel blue hue.The emerald shiner is a fish of big waters. Population numbers fluctuate and they are extremely abundant in some years, scarce in others. The emerald shiner spawns in the late spring or early summer, sometimes as late as mid-August.Around 75 F and the eggs hatch in 24 to 32 hours.

Cricket Investigation
Background Research : In the wild usually eat dead insects, young plants, fungi. The male cricket usually chirp.Male crickets chirp to attract a female mate.Crickets eats with there antennas.Crickets die by too much wind. They live under rocks and log in a meadow.Crickets can tell weather. They chirp by rubbing there legs together.Crickets drink raindrops. They could even eat each other.
Question: Do crickets like fruits or vegetable?
Hypothesis: If we give the crickets a chose of apples and celery Then, I think the cricket well like apples better Because, according to the data we saw they prefer apples.
Digital picture:
Data Table:
I used method 4 because i found it more easy and clearly to understand.Method 4 is seeing the feeding of the crickets in secs and minutes.I recorded my data by putting fruit and vegetable and then put 30secs,1min,1min 30sec,2mins.
Mini Conclusion: In this investigation we gathered data to have our results. We did which crickets like better fruits or vegetable. While we were seeing there behavior we saw a piece of celery in the apple side and one of the crickets was eating it.We branged the celery closer to the apples then we saw the crickets got closer and started to eat the celery. We found this very interesting.

This week in science #6
This week in science we did this mission. And we had to try different trial to see which one is better for us. We choose method 1 dichotomous key. We found this method easy and very clear to understand. We did another dichotomous key with jelly beans. We did that to find which jelly bean flavor it is just like we did it with shoes.
What I learned this week was how to make a dichotomous key. We watched what the crickets do for 30sec, 1min, 1mins 30sec, 2mins. And then, record what they did for those minutes. I learned how to do a dichotomous key with jelly beans. I learned 2 different methods and how to record my observations. I learned the word classify. I learned that the dichotomous key helps you find they flavor of they jelly beans and other things too.

This week in science #5
This week in science we went into groups. We did a super rocket with all data from other groups. We watched some videos about animals and there behaviors. Then we got crickets and saw what were some behaviors of them.We wrote down the things I observed and the tings I wondered. After that we drew a sketch of the front, sideways, and front of the cricket.
What I learned this week was how to build a rocket. We launched a rocket. We learned some behaviors of animals.I learned some of the crickets behaviors and how they look like.We watched videos of animal behavior to have a start of seeing different animals way of life. Some questions I had was why these animals have this kind of behavior? My thoughts about the animal behavior was funny, and kind of strange because I don't see animals do this regularly. I Learned lots of things about crickets, like that the males chirp to get a female cricket attention etc.

This Week in science #4
This week in science we have been doing our plant investigation 2.We did missions in one day with chart and write all of our results in the chart. We had a short gallery walk to see our other mission. We had to make our own group write-up checklist. Then the last 2 days of our check list we looked at our plants and draw it .
What i learned this week in science was how to do our own check list for plant investigation. I and my team members also learned how to do our mission .Learned hoe to make our own checklist.Learned how to make my plan investigation better.
