 Emerald Shiner Live in the Gulf of Mexico.Largely of zooplankton and small aquatic insects; but some algae and dead insects.They grow 2-4 inches.The back
is silvery with an emerald green or steel blue hue.The emerald shiner is a fish of big waters. Population numbers fluctuate and they are extremely abundant in some years, scarce in others.The emerald shiner spawns in the late spring or early summer, sometimes as late as mid-August.Around 75 F and the eggs hatch in 24 to 32 hours.
